New Year's Day Cruise in Company
Happy New Year to all,
Just a quick note to thank all those who were fortunate to make the New Year's Day cruise in company the success it turned out to be.
Having enjoyed the Bacon and Sausage Butties provided by Quay Marinas a total of five boats braved the elements for the trip to the Abercorn basin.
Well worth a mention are the hardy crews of.....
Thankfully the numbers for lunch were boosted by the support of those who joined us by rail, bus and private car to such an extent that a total of 42 people were able to enjoy the hospitality and craic available in The Morning Star. An excellent turnout on the expected forecast for the day.
Returning to Bangor marina the Bangor Marina Berth Holders Association chairman Martin Watson welcomed all and sundry to mulled wine and nibbles. Some even made it to the RUYC Back Bar where more craic was enjoyed in front a welcoming open fire.
Many thanks for the support of Kevin Baird Quay Marinas, BMBHA and most importantly all those who, by their presence, made the first cruise of 2016 a memorable day for all.
May time and tide be with you,
Cruising Convenor RUYC
An now a quote from Sailing Secretary, Robin McKelvey:
"I’m sure I can speak for all of us in offering our thanks to you for your meticulous arrangements. (We will however have to establish a special sub-committee to work on this recurring weather problem.)
I’d like to add my thanks too to Kevin Baird for the bacon/sausage butties and to Martin Watson for the very welcome mulled wine on our return. A day well spent!"
